Please Rob Me

Thanks to the recent widespread combination of GPS technology and internet service on mobile phones, users can now broadcast their locations to the world in real-time using sites like Twitter and Foursquare.  I've been wondering for some time why the heck people would want to tweet their whereabouts to the entire world, and apparently the folks at pleaserobme.com were wondering the same thing.  The site's subtitle, "Listing all those empty homes out there," pretty much says it all.  The site's creators say their purpose is to deter the thoughtless use of geolocation services, but it seems a little like encouraging people to shred their credit card receipts by publishing their Visa numbers on the web.
