Oh, the sun is a mass of incandescent gas!

A solar storm combined with a coronal mass ejection caused aurorae across North America and Europe in early August.  Watch an animation of the recent solar activity.

You have to admit, the sun is pretty freakin' cool.  I mean, a big ball of fire hanging in the cold inky blackness of space?  Come on, that's even better than dinosaurs!
